Senior Civil Project Manager – Four-Month Contract

Location: Rockhampton Region, Queensland Employment Type: Labour-hire contract

Duration: Approximately four months

Rate: $110–$125 per hour plus superannuation, depending on experience

Construct Personnel is seeking a highly experienced Civil Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major hardstand construction project in the Rockhampton region.

This is a hands-on, site-based leadership position with overall responsibility for delivering the project safely, efficiently and within a demanding four-month construction program.

The project is being delivered for a client operating within the explosives sector. Strict safety, security and operational controls apply. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a highly regulated environment and enforcing all client and project requirements without compromise.

Key responsibilities

- Take overall responsibility for the project from mobilisation through to completion and handover.
- Develop, maintain and drive the construction program to achieve all required milestones.
- Manage the delivery of the hardstand and associated civil works, including earthworks, subgrade preparation, pavement construction, drainage and concrete works.
- Lead and coordinate the project team, including Site Managers, Foremen, supervisors and other project personnel.
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers, including performance, sequencing, quality and compliance.
- Maintain effective communication with the client, contractors, consultants and other key stakeholders.
- Monitor project costs, resources, progress, risks, variations and commercial commitments.
- Conduct regular progress meetings and provide clear project reporting.
- Ensure inspection and test plans, quality records, site documentation and handover requirements are completed.
- Maintain strict compliance with WHS, environmental, security and site-specific operating requirements.




- Identify potential delays or project risks early and implement practical corrective actions.

About you

To be considered, you must have:
- Substantial experience delivering civil construction projects, ideally including large hardstands, pavements, bulk earthworks or industrial facilities.
- A proven history of completing civil projects safely, on time and within budget.
- Demonstrated experience directly managing contractors and subcontractors.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary site teams, including Site Managers and Foremen.
- Strong stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills.
- Sound commercial knowledge, including cost control, variations, procurement and project reporting.
- Strong knowledge of civil construction quality, safety and environmental requirements.
- The ability to take control of an active project and make timely, accountable decisions.
- A Construction White Card and current driver’s licence.
- Relevant qualifications in civil engineering, construction management or equivalent substantial industry experience.

Experience working within the explosives, defence, mining, chemical, dangerous-goods or another high-hazard industry would be highly regarded. The successful candidate must be willing and able to complete all client-required inductions, security checks, medical assessments and drug and alcohol testing.
