Ready Steady Recovery has been operating for 5 years, providing support to a diverse range of NDIS participants living with psychosocial disabilities.

Every recovery journey is unique and therefore Ready Steady Recovery tailors support to help participants achieve their personal best. It is part of Ready Steady Recovery’s mission to ensure that participants feel heard and empowered by their support systems.

Ready Steady Recovery is now looking to expand by creating new roles for Mental Health Support workers.

A mental health support worker supports individuals living with psychosocial disabilities. Such disabilities may include but are not limited to schizophrenia, PTSD and C-PTSD, bipolar, personality disorders.

Your role will require visiting participants in their home and supporting them in their daily living skills- this may include helping them establish and maintain daily routines, supporting participants in problem solving around the home assisting them with groceries, meal prep and light housework.

Your role will also require that you support participants in accessing the community. This can often include things such as taking participants to appointments, running errands with them, trying out and attending new social groups, working on personal health/wellbeing/fitness, general companionship, supporting them to use public transport.

Some participants may also have other disabilities such as physical and intellectual, you may be required to support participants with adverse support needs.





Your role will be casual/part time starting on 3-6 hours per week with the opportunity to increase hours if desired. All support worker roles are paid according to SCHADS.

ABOUT YOU The support worker position available will be best suited to an individual that fits the following:

-has a passion for helping others

-has critical thinking skills. Able to come up with a range of possible solutions to any one problem

-has a diverse range of personal interests- able to relate to participants they support through mutual interests

-emotionally intelligent: someone with good listening skills and high empathy

-good time management and personal organisation skills

- open to working with persons who come from a range of backgrounds including LGBTQI, CALD, diverse religious and/or political affiliations.

MUST HAVE -working with children check

-police check

-first aid certified

- NDIS workers check or prepared to obtain it

-full driver's licence and access to a comprehensively insured vehicle -availability most week days during business hours

PREFERABLE BUT NOT NECESSARY

-available on occasional Saturdays and/or evenings

-mental health first aid certified

- relevant training including tafe courses, university courses, career development programs

-relevant employment history -relevant volunteer experience

-lived experience

-immediate start

Pay: From $45.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
