Are you passionate about inclusion, human rights and creating opportunities for people with intellectual disability to have their voices heard?
Speak Out Advocacy is seeking a motivated and creative Project Officer to join our Inclusion and Projects Team in Hobart. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside people with intellectual disability, community organisations and private sector partners to deliver meaningful projects that create real change. The role works closely with the Inclusion and Projects Manager to deliver projects, facilitate workshops and support leadership and inclusion initiatives across Tasmania.
About Speak Out Advocacy
Speak Out Advocacy is a statewide, not-for-profit organisation that promotes and defends the rights of people with intellectual disability. We support people to speak up, be heard and participate fully in their communities. We have offices in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie and are recognised as a leader in disability advocacy and inclusion across Tasmania.
About the Role
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with people, facilitating groups and turning ideas into reality.
You will:
- Co-design and facilitate engaging workshops and training sessions.
- Support people with intellectual disability to participate in leadership opportunities, committees and community activities.
- Assist with the delivery of statewide inclusion and community projects.
- Build positive relationships with community organisations and stakeholders.
- Contribute to project planning, evaluation and reporting.
- Support co-design activities that place lived experience at the centre of decision‑making.
- Promote inclusion, accessibility and human rights in everything you do.
What We're Looking For
We would love to hear from people who have:
Essential
- Experience facilitating workshops, training or group activities.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Strong organisational and project coordination abilities.
- A commitment to disability rights, inclusion and social justice.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- A current driver's licence.
Highly Desirable
- Experience designing and facilitating workshops specifically for people with intellectual disability.
- Experience using Easy Read and accessible communication.
- Knowledge of disability rights, advocacy or community development.
- Qualifications in disability, community services, education, social sciences or a related field.

Employment Details
Location: Hobart
Hours: Part‑time – 3 days per week (22.8 hours)
Classification: SCHADS Award Level 4.1
