About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated and enthusiastic Female Ranger to join the Dieri Ranger Program. This hands-on role supports the delivery of land management, environmental monitoring, cultural heritage protection, and Caring for Country activities across Dieri Country. You will work closely with Traditional Owners, Elders, community members, and fellow Rangers while gaining valuable skills and experience in conservation, cultural heritage, and natural resource management.
The role involves regular fieldwork, travel to remote locations, and participation in overnight camps and on-Country activities. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor work, values Aboriginal culture, and is committed to learning and making a positive difference for community and Country.
This position is open to Aboriginal women only.
The position forms part of the Corporation’s Australian Government-funded Indigenous Women’s Ranger Program. The program has been established to increase employment, training, leadership and participation opportunities for Aboriginal women in caring for Country and cultural and natural resource management. The restriction of this position to Aboriginal women is a special measure intended to address the under-representation of Aboriginal women in ranger employment and to support the objectives of the funded program.
The role may involve engagement with Dieri women, women’s cultural knowledge, women’s places and activities where culturally appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake practical land management and environmental activities.
- Assist with weed and pest animal management, environmental monitoring and site inspections.
- Support cultural heritage protection and Caring for Country initiatives.
- Participate in on-Country field trips, remote work and overnight camps.
- Assist with vehicle, equipment and asset maintenance.
- Collect field data, monitoring information and activity records.
- Work collaboratively within the Ranger team and with community stakeholders.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
- Promote safe work practices and comply with workplace health and safety requirements.
About You

- Enjoys working outdoors and in remote environments.
- Communicates respectfully with Aboriginal communities, Traditional Owners and Elders.
- Works well within a team and can follow direction.
- Is reliable, organised and committed to learning new skills.
- Is willing to travel and participate in overnight field activities.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience operating 4WD vehicles
- Confidence speaking to community groups or stakeholders.

Employment Requirements
Successful applicants will require:
- National Police Check.
- Working With Vulnerable Persons Check.
- Current manual Australian Driver's Licence.
- Right to work in Australia.
- Ability to travel regularly and undertake remote fieldwork and overnight camps.
