About the role

We are seeking a Registered Midwife to join Greenstaff Medical on a casual basis in Brisbane, QLD. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced midwife to contribute to our dedicated maternity and neonatal services, providing compassionate care to mothers and newborns during critical periods of their journey. As a casual team member, you will have the flexibility to work around your schedule whilst making a meaningful impact in a supportive healthcare environment.

This role is essential in delivering high-quality midwifery care and supporting the broader objectives of our maternity and women's health services.

Key responsibilities

- Provide comprehensive antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care to mothers in accordance with best practice guidelines and clinical protocols
- Conduct routine observations and assessments of mothers and newborns, including vital signs, foetal monitoring and neonatal screening
- Support normal labour and birth processes, recognising complications and escalating concerns to senior clinicians as required
- Provide evidence-based education and support to mothers and families regarding labour, birth, breastfeeding and newborn care
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including obstetricians, paediatricians, nurses and allied health professionals to ensure coordinated care
- Respond to clinical emergencies promptly and professionally, providing appropriate first-line interventions
- Maintain a secure and hygienic clinical environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols
- Support women experiencing complications or distress,



providing compassionate care and appropriate referrals
- Contribute to the ongoing education and support of junior midwifery staff when required

What we're looking for

- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Midwife
- Demonstrated experience in midwifery practice, ideally in hospital or clinical settings providing intrapartum and postnatal care
- Current CPR certification and willingness to maintain other relevant clinical certifications (e.g. neonatal resuscitation)
- Strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to identify deviations from normal labour and birth processes
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, supportive guidance to mothers, families and multidisciplinary teams
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to midwifery care, with a commitment to woman-centred practice
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Sound understanding of infection control, health and safety legislation, and clinical governance requirements
- Flexibility to work on a casual basis, including potential shift work arrangements
- Knowledge of or experience in neonatal care or special care nursery (SCN/NICU) settings is highly desirable
