Sharp Office Mid-Coast is a well-established and growing Office Supplies & Technology business located in the Taree CBD with three core divisions:
- Office Supplies
- Photocopiers
- Managed IT Services
Our mission is to deliver the best service and advice in the region. As our customer base continues to grow, we’re looking for a skilled and motivated Assistant Manager to step into our team.
The Role
This role is a 12-month contract working 38 hours per week Monday- Friday 8.30am- 5pm, with potential for on-going employment at end of term.
Primarily responsible for the running of the shop front as well as helping to coordinate the back-of-house team. It’s a great opportunity for someone looking for a leadership position and who wants to be a part of a growing and expanding business. This role will suit an energetic person that can learn all aspects of the business and be a responsible leader of the whole team, particularly when the boss is out of the office.
What you’ll be doing:
- Retail sales
- Taking phone orders from external customers
- Prepare quotations for office products and commercial furniture solutions
- Assist with the coordination of the back-of house team and assign tasks to help meet the needs of customers
- Build genuine customer relationships with existing customers & current customers
- Manage company email inboxes
- Receive, pick, pack and dispatch customer orders
- Work with management on resupply of inventory items & actively work to reduce out of stock lines
- Communicate with customers to supply stocked items
- Promote and update our website & create customer contracts/access
- Actively engage with management to present ideas for improvements
- Learn all working aspects of the business
- Covering other positions when staff are absent, such as warehousing.
- Perform or assist with some office furniture installations

Skills & Experience
We are seeking a person with a positive and vibrant personality who is great at building relationships with both the staff and the client-base. You will need to be a calm logical thinker and help guide the team through day-to-day tasks. You will be naturally proactive, have an eye for detail, be comfortable with technology and easily adapt to new systems. You aren’t afraid of responsibility, and you enjoy taking on new challenges that will help improve the day-to-day operation of the business.
Essential:
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in retail with some management experience
- Great attention to detail
- Ability to build great working relationships and customer relations
- Good computer literacy and ability to learn new systems
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Previous stock management experience
- Excellent people management skills
- Current NSW drivers licence
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience preparing quotations
- Understanding of modern technology & problem solving
- Previous knowledge of ERP system Jim2
- Experience within the office products, office technology, furniture or business-to-business (B2B) industry
