St Michael's Collegiate School is seeking an experienced and proactive Risk & Compliance Officer to lead the School's risk, governance and compliance framework.

Reporting to the Director of Business Services, this newly created role is pivotal in ensuring the School maintains best practice governance, regulatory compliance, workplace health and safety, risk management and policy development across our K–12 learning community.

About the Role

As the Risk & Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for leading and continuously improving the School's:

- Governance, policy and procedure framework
- Risk management framework and risk registers
- Regulatory compliance activities
- Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) systems
- Incident management and reporting
- Emergency management planning
- Insurance and claims administration
- Compliance training and awareness programs

You will work closely with the Executive, School leaders,



Board Governance & Risk Committee and staff to ensure the School continues to meet its legislative obligations while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, review and maintain School policies and procedures
- Coordinate governance and policy review processes
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and implement improvements
- Provide expert advice on governance, compliance and risk
- Lead the School's WHS management system and WHS Committee
- Manage incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions
- Coordinate emergency preparedness, evacuation and lockdown programs
- Maintain risk, compliance and WHS registers
- Prepare reports for Executive and Board Committees
- Deliver compliance training and build organisational capability

About You You are a collaborative and highly organised professional who enjoys building strong relationships while ensuring robust governance and compliance outcomes.

You will bring

- Qualifications in Risk Management, WHS, Governance, Compliance, Policy or a related discipline
- At least three years' experience in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of governance, compliance and risk management principles
- Excellent written communication and report-writing skills
- Outstanding organisational and project management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability




- High-level stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- A commitment to integrity, confidentiality and continuous improvement
