Safety Officer | Hands-On WHS Role Supporting Residential Construction & Manufacturing

As Stoddart Group continues to grow, we’re looking for a motivated Safety Officer to join our Work Health & Safety team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being out on site, working directly with crews and operational leaders, and helping make workplaces safer every day.

This is a hands-on, field-based role where you’ll spend the majority of your time across residential construction sites and manufacturing branches, supporting day-to-day operations, identifying practical safety improvements and building strong relationships with our teams. You’ll receive ongoing mentoring and support from our experienced Group WHS Manager while developing your career across both construction and manufacturing environments.

What you’ll be doing

- Working closely with our Group WHS Manager, you will:
- Spend time on construction sites and in manufacturing branches supporting frontline teams.
- Walk sites daily, identify hazards and work with supervisors and crews to implement practical safety solutions.




- Conduct site safety inspections and compliance checks with a strong operational focus.
- Lead site conversations around safety, including toolbox talks, pre-starts and safety initiatives that engage employees and contractors.
- Assist supervisors with incident and near-miss investigations and help drive corrective actions through to completion.
- Support injury management and return-to-work activities in partnership with leaders and employees.
- Review SWMS and safety controls to ensure they are practical and suitable for the work being performed.
- Build strong working relationships with employees, supervisors and contractors to encourage a positive safety culture.
- Gain exposure to a variety of operational environments across residential construction and manufacturing.

What you’ll bring We’re looking for someone who is practical, approachable and confident engaging with people on site. You don’t need to know everything already; we’re seeking someone with a solid WHS foundation who is keen to continue learning in a supportive environment.

You’ll bring

- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or higher), or currently working towards completion.
- WHS experience in residential construction, manufacturing or another operational environment.




- A practical understanding of Australian WHS legislation, risk management and site-based safety controls.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with frontline teams.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to follow through on actions and safety initiatives.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating with leaders and the wider WHS team.
- A current Australian Driver Licence and willingness to travel between operational sites.

Desirable

- Exposure to workplace incident investigations (ICAM experience highly regarded).
- Fire Safety Advisor qualification.
- Current First Aid qualification.
