About the role
As the Sales Representative, you will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities while maintaining and growing relationships with existing customers. You will regularly meet with customers, generate new sales leads and gather first-hand information about industry trends, competitor activities, pricing and changing customer requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities
- Proactively generate sales leads and convert opportunities into long-term customers
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers
- Conduct regular customer visits throughout Melbourne and surrounding areas
- Understand customer needs and recommend suitable products and solutions
- Develop and manage your own customer portfolio
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, pricing and customer demand
- Provide timely market intelligence and commercial insights to management
- Identify emerging customer requirements and potential new products
- Prepare quotations and negotiate commercial terms
- Achieve agreed sales and business development targets
- Work closely with customer service, warehouse and operations teams
- Represent the company professionally at customer meetings, trade events and industry functions
About you
The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of three to five years’ sales or business development experience within the HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing or a closely related industry
- Demonstrated success in developing new business and increasing sales
- Strong existing customer relationships and industry connections
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship management skills
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify market opportunities
- A proactive, self-motivated and results-driven approach
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to collaborate effectively across different departments
- A current Australian Driver Licence
- Australian permanent residency or unrestricted Australian working rights
Highly Regarded
- An existing customer portfolio within the HVAC, refrigeration or plumbing industry
- Experience working within wholesale, import/export or distribution businesses
- Experience analysing market trends and providing strategic commercial insights
- Knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration or plumbing products and customer requirements
