Responsibilities As a Scrub Scout, your key responsibilities will include:

- Preparing and maintaining the operating theatre with the necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies for orthopaedic procedures.
- Assisting the surgical team during procedures by anticipating their needs and ensuring a sterile setting.
- Monitoring and managing surgical instruments and materials to ensure efficiency and safety.
- Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Adhering to hospital policies, procedures, and infection control standards.
- Supporting the team in post-operative care and ensuring proper documentation.

Qualifications To excel in this role, you’ll need:

- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse.
- Proven experience as a Scrub Scout,



with a strong focus on orthopaedic procedures.
- Exceptional knowledge of surgical instruments, techniques, and protocols.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A commitment to patient safety and high-quality care.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Day-to-Day Your day will involve:

- Collaborating with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless surgical procedures.
- Preparing and organising surgical instruments and equipment before each procedure.
- Maintaining a sterile field and ensuring compliance with infection control standards.
- Providing hands-on support during surgeries, including passing instruments and assisting with equipment.
- Conducting post-operative checks and ensuring all instruments are accounted for.
- Participating in team briefings and debriefings to continuously improve processes.
