Profectus is seeking experienced Linux Systems Administrators to support the delivery and sustainment of secure ICT environments within Defence. You will be responsible for the design, configuration, documentation, operation, and support of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems, working alongside peers of differing specialisation within a wider systems team. It is a hands‑on role in a highly secure setting where reliability, security, and performance matter.

Key Responsibilities

- Deploy, support, and maintain RHEL components across physical and virtual infrastructure
- Manage and document the configuration of RHEL systems to defined baselines
- Manage virtualisation tools such as VMware and configure virtual machines supporting critical applications
- Troubleshoot diverse and complex faults, engaging constructively with peer teams to reach resolution
- Contribute technical designs and content to knowledge repositories and provide input to policy, process, and procedures
- Apply ITIL Service Management principles under direction, including participation in Change Advisory Boards (CAB), implementation of approved changes, and use of service management toolsets for tasking and scheduling
- Provide platform deployment and support to designated activities, which may include planning, out of hours support, and some shift work
- Handle classified information in accordance with Commonwealth policy, including the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) and the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM)
- Protect Commonwealth Intellectual Property and uphold Defence international obligations, including Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements
- Work closely with other technical teams and, where directed,



contribute to cross‑skill, cross‑functional, or project teams
- Provide team leader functions where required at Commonwealth direction

Required Experience

- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification, or a tertiary degree or vocational qualification in a closely related discipline
- 5+ years of industry experience in systems administration, relevant military experience, or a combination of the two
- Proven expertise administering RHEL, including system configuration and support across development and production environments
- An unrestricted ability to deploy to Australian Defence Force (ADF) military installations in support of designated activities
- Solid understanding of virtualisation technologies such as VMware
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with technical peers and frontline IT leadership
- Ability to operate effectively both independently and within integrated Defence teams
- ITIL certification
- Knowledge of storage and backup architecture and management
- Experience with VMware, ServiceNow, and CrowdStrike Falcon LogScale
- Exposure to Windows environments alongside Linux
- Experience working within Defence environments or on nationally significant programs

Security Clearance

- Must be an Australian Citizen
- Must have a current AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance
- NV2 Security Clearance is preferred

Working Arrangements

- Onsite
- Some travel may be required as part of this engagement
