Your new role
As a BI & Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing and supporting enterprise data and analytics solutions within Microsoft Fabric. You will work closely with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements, develop scalable data pipelines, build insightful Power BI dashboards and drive the adoption of analytics across the organisation.
The role combines hands-on data engineering, business intelligence development, stakeholder engagement and data governance, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working across both technical and business domains.
Key responsibilities include
- Designing, developing and optimising Microsoft Fabric data solutions.
- Building and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration processes.
- Developing enterprise Power BI dashboards, reports and semantic models.
- Driving analytics adoption through stakeholder engagement, workshops and training.
- Supporting real-time monitoring, event streaming and analytics capabilities.
- Investigating and resolving data quality issues through root cause analysis.
- Developing user behaviour and clickstream analytics solutions.
- Implementing data governance,
security and best practice data management frameworks.
- Enhancing platform performance, scalability and capacity utilisation.
What you'll need to succeed
Essential Experience
- Strong experience working across the Microsoft Data Platform.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Factory.
- Experience with cloud computing, platform optimisation and capacity management.
- Strong understanding of real-time monitoring and event stream analytics.
- Demonstrated experience building and supporting complex ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Expertise in data modelling, data integration and enterprise data architecture.
- Experience implementing Delta Lake and Delta Parquet architectures.
- Strong understanding of Relational and Medallion Architecture frameworks.
- Advanced Power BI development experience, including semantic models and DAX.
- Strong SQL development skills including query optimisation, stored procedures and triggers.
- Experience with Azure SQL environments.
- Commercial Python experience including Polars, PySpark and/or Pandas.
- Experience using Python libraries such as Matplotlib and Seaborn.
- Understanding of data governance, metadata management and data cataloguing.
- Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS).
- Strong UI and dashboard design skills.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and requirements gathering skills.
- Ability to translate business needs into scalable analytical solutions.
Nice to Have
- PowerShell scripting experience.
- Batch scripting experience.
- Experience within highly regulated, secure or complex operational environments.
- Exposure to operational excellence, performance analytics or asset management programs.
- Experience supporting large enterprise analytics transformations.
