Role Description
- The Senior Civil Estimator will be responsible for:
- Preparing detailed estimates and tender submissions for civil construction projects, including earthworks, roads, utilities, and infrastructure works.
- Day-to-day tasks include reviewing drawings and specifications, performing quantity take-offs, analyzing subcontractor and supplier quotes, and developing accurate cost breakdowns and budgets.
- Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to clarify scope, identify risks, and optimize pricing strategies,
- Participating in tender reviews and client negotiations.
- Maintaining and updating cost databases, monitor market rates, and provide input into project planning and value engineering.
- This is a full-time, on-site role based in Sydney, NSW.
Skills, Qualifications, and attributes to be successful:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience in Australian civil construction standards, local codes, and procurement practices within NSW.
- Strong civil Construction Estimating experience, including preparation of tenders for a wide variety of civil projects, including roads, and water infrastructure, bulk excavation and earthworks projects, and related structural FRP concrete
- Proficiency in Quantity Take-offs using industry-standard estimating software and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Cost Management and Budgeting skills, with proven ability to develop detailed cost breakdowns, track allowances, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Effective Communication skills for collaborating with internal teams, liaising with subcontractors and suppliers, and contributing to client presentations.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet tender deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with estimating and spreadsheet tools (e.g., Bluebeam, or similar, MS Excel,) MS Project, and general computer literacy.
- Ability to mentor junior estimators and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes.
- Valid work rights in Australia and ability to work on-site in Sydney, NSW.
