Senior Construction Advisor - Demolition & Asbestos
- $143,915 per annum + 12% super
- 16 weeks training, paid at full salary
- Full-time permanent position located in Wurundjeri/Melbourne
About the opportunity At WorkSafe we are aiming to make Victoria a global leader in workplace safety and wellbeing. We're looking for people who share our passion to bring their own industry knowledge and/or safety experience to join us in making a real difference together.
As a WorkSafe Senior Construction Advisor, you will attend a comprehensive training program in a supportive workplace. Once appointed, you will spend a large portion of your time providing specialist written and verbal construction advice as well as providing coaching and mentoring to Appointed Inspectors.

About you
Our people come from a diverse range of professional backgrounds but share a common goal of ensuring Victorian workplaces are safe and that all workers return home safely at the end of each day. Ideally, you will demonstrate the following:
- Strong understanding of the construction industry, including established relationships with senior industry stakeholders and key partners.
- Significant practical experience (typically 5-10 years)
in one or more specialist construction disciplines, including demolition and asbestos removal.
- Highly developed negotiation, stakeholder engagement, conflict resolution, influencing and mentoring skills, with the ability to build capability and drive positive outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Experience in driving and leading negotiations with workplace parties in the resolution of industry wide safety issues, using a range of influencing, negotiation and conflict resolution approaches.
- Experience in assisting, advising and educating workplace parties on how to meet their OHS obligations.
- Sound knowledge of the OHS obligations as detailed under the OHS legislation in Victoria.
- Ability to influence and encourage positive behaviour within the workplace, and coach and develop field staff and to share knowledge and experience with others to facilitate on job learning.
- Excellent time management, prioritisation and organisational skills and an ability to meet tight deadlines
Qualifications
- You will have relevant tertiary qualifications and/or significant equivalent experience.
- Current Victorian driver's licence
- A Tertiary qualification in OHS is desirable.
