North Sydney | 6-Month Contract + 6-Month Extension MMD Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager to join a leading data centre provider on a major program of works in Sydney.
This is a high-impact commercial role suited to someone with a strong Tier 1 or Tier 2 head contractor background who understands how major construction projects are priced, procured, controlled and delivered.
Based in the client’s North Sydney office, you will work closely with development, project delivery, procurement and commercial teams to maintain strong cost control across complex data centre projects.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- Managing project budgets, cost plans and forecasts
- Reviewing contractor pricing, tenders and commercial submissions
- Assessing variations, progress claims and change requests
- Providing accurate monthly cost reporting and cash flow forecasts
- Supporting procurement and contract award processes
- Challenging contractor costs and identifying commercial risks
- Managing contingencies, commitments and cost-to-complete forecasts
- Supporting value engineering and cost-saving initiatives
- Providing clear commercial advice to senior project stakeholders
- Maintaining strong governance and financial control throughout delivery
About You
To be considered, you will have:
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in cost management, quantity surveying or commercial management
- Strong experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 head contractor
- Experience delivering major construction, infrastructure, industrial or mission-critical projects
- Strong knowledge of construction costs, contracts, procurement and project controls
- Demonstrated experience managing large project budgets and complex variations
- Excellent commercial judgement and stakeholder management skills
- The confidence to challenge contractors and provide clear, commercially focused advice
- Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline
Previous experience across data centres, industrial facilities, major services packages, power or mission-critical infrastructure will be highly regarded.
