Senior Data Analyst — Federal Government - 12 Month Contract - Must Be AUS Citizen

About the Role

We're recruiting a Senior Data Analyst to join a small, multidisciplinary data platform team at a major federal agency. You'll design, build and maintain data products that power reporting and decision-making across a national scheme. This is a technical individual-contributor role - no people management, but you'll mentor junior analysts and influence senior stakeholders.

What You'll Do

- Data wrangling, profiling, and quality assessment on complex data sources
- Write and maintain production code (SQL, Python, SAS, R transformations)
- Design and prototype current data attributes and analytical products
- Validate data pipelines, remediate defects and own data product reliability
- Present technical options and decisions to business stakeholders with varying technical literacy
- Coach and guide junior team members - contribute to team problem-solving
- Maintain code standards, documentation and knowledge sharing

What You'll Need (Essential)

- 6+ years hands-on programming experience (SQL, SAS, R, Python)
- Proven experience building data products in an industrialised Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)

- Ability to work independently, solve complex problems and deliver under tight deadlines with limited supervision
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills - ability to translate business requirements into technical data flows and present findings clearly
- Team collaboration - active knowledge-sharing and shared accountability for outcomes
- Australian citizenship (mandatory)
- Ability to obtain Baseline security clearance

- SAS Viya
- Fabric / Power BI
