Our client, a well-established public practice accounting firm, is looking for an experienced Supervisor to join their team. Reporting directly to a Manager and leading a small team of Accountants, this is a great opportunity for someone ready to build on solid technical delivery with the first real step into people leadership.

Purpose of the Role

The Supervisor bridges the gap between Senior Accountant and Manager. The role combines hands-on technical delivery with the first layer of people leadership — reviewing the work of more junior staff, managing day-to-day workflow for a small team, and building the coaching and client-facing skills required to progress toward Manager.

Key Responsibilities

- Review work prepared by Senior and Junior Accountants for technical accuracy before escalation to a Manager for sign-off
- Coordinate day-to-day workload and deadlines across a small team, balancing capacity against job due dates and lodgement deadlines




- Handle direct client contact on routine and moderately complex matters; escalate commercially sensitive or highly technical matters to a Manager
- Continue to carry a personal workload of technical delivery
- Provide on-the-job coaching and feedback to junior team members, including identifying training needs
- Monitor WIP and flag billing or scope issues on jobs within their team to the Manager
- Support the Manager in onboarding new team members and maintaining team process/quality standards

Skills, Experience & Attributes

- Australian Qualifications
- 3–7 years' experience in public practice
- Strong technical grounding across core compliance work (tax, financial statements)
- CA/CPA qualified or working towards
- Demonstrated ability to review others' work accurately and give constructive feedback Comfortable communicating directly with clients on straightforward and moderately complex matters
- Organised, deadline-driven, and able to juggle multiple jobs and people at once
- Genuine interest in progressing toward people leadership, not just technical seniority
