What will you be doing The Information Security team in Technology Services is responsible for providing network engineering, design and cyber security. The Information Security team works closely with cross-functional teams to architect, implement, and secure our network & cyber security infrastructure, ensuring its optimal performance, scalability, and reliability.

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of the organisation's network infrastructure. You will lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of enterprise networking solutions across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, with a strong focus on AWS networking and Palo Alto Networks security technologies.

This role is based in Sydney and will have accountability for:

This role requires advanced knowledge of routing, switching, wireless, network security, cloud connectivity, and network automation. The Senior Network Engineer will also provide technical leadership, mentor junior team members, and participate in strategic infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

Palo Alto Firewall Management

- Configure, administer, and optimize Palo Alto firewalls across enterprise environments.




- Manage security policies, NAT, routing, VPNs, security profiles, URL filtering, and threat prevention services.
- Support GlobalProtect remote access solutions.
- Administer Panorama for centralized device management.
- Conduct firewall rule reviews and implement security best practices in collaboration with the Cyber Security team.

AWS Cloud Networking
- Design and support AWS networking services including:

- VPCs

- Transit Gateway

- Route Tables

- Security Groups

- Network ACLs

- Direct Connect
- Site-to-Site VPN

- Load Balancers

- Route 53
- Support hybrid cloud connectivity between AWS and on-premises environments.
- Assist with cloud infrastructure deployments and migrations.
- Ensure network architecture aligns with AWS best practices for security, resilience, and performance.

Infrastructure & Network Services
- Configure and support:

- Routing and switching environments
- BGP and OSPF routing protocols

- Wireless infrastructure

- DNS and DHCP services

- Load balancing platforms

- VPN technologies
- Perform firmware upgrades, patching, and infrastructure maintenance activities.
- Manage network performance, availability, capacity planning, and lifecycle management.
- Monitor and troubleshoot complex network issues across multiple sites and cloud environments.
- Develop and maintain network architecture diagrams, standards, and technical documentation.
- Participate in on-call support and major incident resolution activities.

Project Delivery
- Lead network infrastructure projects from design through implementation.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cyber security, cloud, and application teams.
- Provide technical guidance to other teams.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).




- Minimum 7+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering roles.
- Proven experience supporting large-scale enterprise network environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
- Experience designing and supporting AWS cloud networking solutions.
