Location: Melbourne - CBD and Inner Metro suburbs Reference: VG/DH/HSRP/721263 The Senior Policy Officer leads the development of evidence-based strategy and policy for reforms that aim to positively change the way healthcare is delivered in Victoria. The role involves working closely with other teams across the department including operational staff, policy specialists and evaluators – as well as with clinicians and experts in the sector.
About you
- Monitoring policy gaps, trends and issues, including keeping up to date with relevant developments in evidence, practice or public discourse.
- Identifying potential policy options and solutions to known policy gaps and future opportunities.
- Developing briefs on highly complex issues that provide options for decision within an organisation and providing authoritative expert advice on complex issues within own area.
- Focusing on understanding stakeholder issues and influencing their views and initiating and managing negotiations with peers (internal and external to work unit) to gain commitment to projects, and delivery of activities to meet timelines.
- Working across multiple projects, including designing and managing complex projects,
and leading multi-disciplinary teams to meet emerging and significant work pressures and demands, as required.
- Developing detailed project monitoring, reporting and governance frameworks.
Qualifications / Specialist Expertise - A tertiary qualification in fields related to health, politics or public administration would be desirable.
- Required expertise:
- A strong understanding and knowledge of the policy context and direction of the Victorian health system.
- Authoritative writing skills and demonstrated experience drafting diverse documents tailored to specific audiences.
