Senior Project Engineer (2:1 ROSTER)

Harry Maxwell has been engaged by a well-known construction and engineering contractor that delivers multidisciplinary infrastructure projects across water, tailings, pipeline, civil and mechanical work fronts.

We are currently searching for a Senior Project Engineer with strong delivery experience across earthworks, pipeline installation, pump station construction, mechanical and electrical integration, and commissioning. This role suits a site-based engineer who thrives in a 2:1 FIFO environment and can lead multiple civil, mechanical and piping work fronts with clarity, discipline and steady judgement.

You will be responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering multidisciplinary scopes including trenching, pipeline installation, tie-ins, pump station works, mechanical installation, electrical integration and commissioning. The role requires strong QA discipline, contractor leadership and the ability to maintain progress in live operational environments.

The ideal candidate is a calm, solutions-focused engineer known for maintaining tight control of cost, schedule, quality and risk, resolving field issues quickly and ensuring all works align with engineering intent, safety requirements and client standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver civil, mechanical, piping and electrical scopes across sustaining capital and brownfields environments
- Oversee earthworks, trenching, compaction, drainage interfaces and structural stability controls
- Manage HDPE and steel pipeline installation, valve assemblies, tie-ins and pressure testing




- Coordinate pump station construction including foundations, structural works and mechanical installation
- Lead mechanical and electrical integration including pumps, manifolds, MCC connections and control systems
- Support commissioning activities including functional testing, documentation and system handover
- Prepare and review ITPs, RFIs, redlines, work packs, QA records and as-built documentation
- Maintain disciplined cost, schedule, quality and change control across all work fronts • Collaborate closely with supervisors, planners, vendors, operations and engineering teams
- Ensure strict compliance with geotechnical, environmental and safety requirements (e.g., “strict geotechnical, environmental, and safety requirements”)

What you bring

- Degree-qualified Civil or Mechanical Engineer
- Solid experience delivering earthworks, pipelines, pump stations and water-infrastructure scopes
- Proven capability managing trenching, bedding, backfill, reinstatement and brownfields tie-ins
- Experience with HDPE welding, mechanical installation, valve assemblies and pressure testing (e.g., “stringing, welding… pressure testing to South32 standards” )
- Ability to manage electrical interfaces including pumps, MCCs, instrumentation and control systems (e.g., “power supply, MCC connections, control systems” )
- Skilled in QA/QC including ITPs, RFIs, weld traceability, MDRs and commissioning documentation
- Strong contractor leadership with disciplined cost, schedule and change control
- A steady, collaborative and solutions-focused approach suited to high-pressure FIFO environments
