MMD Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager (Client-Side) to lead the delivery of a major data centre project in the Newcastle, Maitland & Hunter region. This is an immediate start contract role (initial 6 months with strong extension potential) suited to a senior professional with a proven track record in complex, high-value construction projects. You will act as the client’s representative, driving outcomes across the full project lifecycle.
About the Role
This position will see you take ownership of a technically complex, services-intensive data centre project. You will be responsible for ensuring successful delivery across design, procurement and construction phases, maintaining strict control over programme, cost and quality. Operating in a client-side capacity, you will lead stakeholder engagement and provide strategic oversight to ensure project objectives are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the full project lifecycle from planning through to completion
- Act as the primary interface between client, contractors, consultants and key stakeholders
- Develop and manage project programmes, budgets and resource plans
- Monitor delivery performance, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Oversee contract administration including variations, claims and dispute resolution
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, codes and safety requirements
- Conduct site inspections, progress meetings and reporting to senior stakeholders
- Drive project outcomes aligned with client expectations for time, cost and quality
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience in construction/project management
- Proven client-side or principal’s representative experience
- Demonstrated delivery of large-scale projects ($10-50M+)
- Experience in data centres, mission-critical or highly serviced builds is highly regarded
- Solid knowledge of construction methodologies, contracts and Australian standards
- Advanced commercial acumen including cost control, risk and variation management
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Construction, Engineering or similar
