About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Senior Ranger to support the delivery of the Dieri Ranger Program. Reporting to the Ranger Coordinator, you will provide practical field leadership, mentoring and support to Rangers while contributing to the successful delivery of land management, environmental and cultural heritage activities across Dieri Country.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, supporting others, and contributing to meaningful Caring for Country outcomes.

This position is open to Aboriginal women only. The position forms part of the Corporation’s Australian Government-funded Indigenous Women’s Ranger Program. The program has been established to increase employment, training, leadership and participation opportunities for Aboriginal women in caring for Country and cultural and natural resource management.

The restriction of this position to Aboriginal women is a special measure intended to address the under-representation of Aboriginal women in ranger employment and to support the objectives of the funded program. The role may involve engagement with Dieri women, women’s cultural knowledge, women’s places and activities where culturally appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the delivery of on-Country land management and environmental programs.
- Provide day-to-day field coordination, mentoring and guidance to Rangers.
- Assist with weed and pest management, environmental monitoring, site inspections and cultural heritage protection activities.
- Support field planning, logistics and operational readiness.
- Work closely with Traditional Owners, Elders and community members.
- Assist with data collection, record keeping and reporting requirements.
- Promote safe work practices and support compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.




- Represent TDAC professionally with community members, partner organisations and stakeholders.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Essential

- A Dieri Woman.
- Experience in natural resource management, land management, environmental work or Caring for Country programs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to mentor and support team members in practical field activities.
- A respectful approach to working with Aboriginal communities, Traditional Owners and Elders.
- Ability to work in remote locations and undertake overnight field trips.
- Solid organisational skills and the ability to follow work plans and priorities.
- Current manual driver's licence and willingness to travel throughout South Australia.

Desirable

- Experience in cultural heritage management or ranger programs.
- 4WD, First Aid, chemical handling or remote area safety qualifications.
- Experience using GPS units, tablets, radios and field equipment.
- Confidence speaking to community groups or stakeholders.

Employment Requirements

Successful applicants must be able to obtain:
- National Police Check
- Working With Vulnerable Persons Check (including children)
- Hold a C-class Drivers Licence

Applicants must also have full Australian work rights and be willing to undertake regular travel, fieldwork and overnight camps.
