Position Summary:

The Senior Quantity Surveyor / Estimator will act as a senior member of the Company and will be responsible for excellence in the execution of our quantity surveying / estimating services.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor / Estimator are responsible to the Lead Quantity Surveyors and Senior Management

Team and will support and supervise team members while ensuring the successful development and management of all quantity surveying activities, including quantity take-offs, preparation of construction cost estimates, bills of quantities, project life cycle costs and optimising project budgets/cost planning.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage quantity surveying and estimating deliverables in accordance with our Clients expectations in accordance with best industry practice.

Communication with Clients, Management, Staff and Consultants.

Assist in the preparation of Basis of Estimate reports

Highlighting areas of concern / loss on any part of the contract

Take ownership over work produced

Assist with the management and support of staff members at preceding levels

Manage hours against project budgets. Advise and agree with line manager if any hours are to be non-chargeable.

Ensure compliance with standards and procedures.

Provide advice on contractual claims.

Contribute to project execution and contracting strategies.

Assist with production of PEP’s and facilitation of project close out meetings as required.

Conduct review of deliverables prior to client submission.

Management Responsibilities:

Mentors/trains,



reviews and allocates work to staff and subconsultants to facilitate the smooth workflow process.

Reporting of issues of concern to line manager in a timely manner.

Provides technical training and project presentations

Manages sections of projects

Supports the performance improvement of team members through peer feedback.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline (Quantity Surveying, Construction

Management or similar).

For specialist Estimator, an engineering or similar degree qualification is required

Member of RICS and/or AIQS (Desirable)

Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator in the CIVIL construction industry,

with a proven track record of delivering cost benefits.

Experience working in the Resources and Infrastructure sectors (preferred).

Experience across both cost consultancy and contractor roles is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to produce results whilst working alongside various stakeholders.

Australian experience preferable.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to express complex ideas in a simply understood manner.

Ability to work under pressure and maintain a clear assessment of requirements and priorities.

Robust time management and attention to detail, able to focus on critical elements and, at the same time, remain mindful of the big picture.

A highly motivated and autonomous individual who values being part of a talented team with diverse skills and experience.
