Your Role at St John of God Midland Public Hospital As the Education and Simulation Registrar (Emergency), you will play a key role in coordinating medical education programs within the Emergency Department under the guidance of consultant staff. You will deliver engaging teaching and educational activities for Residents and Registrars while helping to foster a culture of learning and clinical excellence.
This unique role offers a rewarding opportunity to develop advanced skills in medical education, including simulation design, event coordination, and the facilitation and debriefing of multidisciplinary in situ simulations. Working alongside experienced educators and clinicians, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in planning and delivering innovative learning experiences.
You will lead monthly immersive multidisciplinary simulation sessions at the nearby Curtin Simulation Centre and participate in a structured weekly education curriculum designed to support your growth and development as a medical educator and simulation practitioner.
This position is available for either Semester 1, 2027 (1 February – 1 August) or Semester 2, 2027 (2 August – 6 February) and is offered as a six-month, part-time appointment at 0.5 FTE (40 hours per fortnight). For candidates seeking a broader clinical and educational experience, the role can be combined with a Senior Registrar Emergency Medicine position to create a full-time appointment.
The Position
Assist in preparing and facilitating with the various medical education programs at all levels (medical student, RMO, Registrar, ACEM exam preparation and courses).
Undertake professional development in the medical education field with a prescribed university course or agreed alternative.
Undertake at least one project to improve education quality within the Emergency Department.
Report to a designated medical education supervisor regularly to discuss progress.
Keep a logbook of all education duties undertaken for the term period.
Provide clinical supervision and teaching to Registrar, Resident Medical Officers, Interns and medical students
Provide clinical supervision and teaching to junior staff.
Commit to a team approach in the delivery of care, working closely with nursing staff, allied health professions,
members of pastoral care services, and other clinicians both onsite and offsite.

You will be a motivated, proactive, and passionate clinician with a strong commitment to Emergency Medicine. You will have registration with AHPRA, and strong clinical experience within Emergency medicine.
You will have a demonstrated clinical and procedural experience in an equivalent ED setting and be an advanced ACEM trainee or equivalent.

Salary: $188,817 – $198,142 per annum, plus 12% superannuation
Professional Development Allowance: Up to $16,747 per annum (pro rata for part-time appointments)
Adaptable Part-Time Role: 0.5 FTE, working 40 hours per fortnight
