This position is for a Senior Statistician/Analyst in the Information Products and Services (IP&S;) team within QGSO. IP&S; has a solid culture of agility, collaboration and innovation. The team provides a broad range of analytics and reporting services to support evidence-based decision making. In your role, you will use a variety of statistical software to process, analyse and report on Queensland statistics.
What You Will Be Doing In The Role Compile and publish economic, demographic, and social statistics for Queensland using automated processes and Web Content Management Systems (WCMS), often under tight timeframes.
Provide complex technical advice, analytics and reporting services to clients and senior officers. Coordinate client requirements and competing team priorities, exercising sound judgment and effective time management.
Develop and maintain statistical reports and databases using tools such as Excel, R, R Shiny and GitLab.
Develop and maintain web-based statistical reporting systems created in Oracle Database, java-script, Eclipse Business Intelligence Reporting Tool (BIRT).
Develop and maintain statistical maps using geographic information systems (GIS).
Lead complex technical projects, ensuring outputs satisfy Office standards for integrity, accuracy and timeliness based on quality principles and methodologies.
Ensure the security and confidentiality of information in accordance with standards and security plans.
Apply statistical classifications, standards and methodologies consistently across outputs.
What you will bring to be successful in the role: Extensive experience in processing and analysing data using the statistical software application ‘R'.
Experience in GIS software for mapping and analysing spatial data.
Experience working with relational databases.
An understanding of official statistics including standards and classifications.
High level written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing work priorities with tight deadlines, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. Applications to remain current for 12 months.
