Ready to make a strategic impact on complex, national-scale Defence programs? We are seeking expressions of interest from highly skilled Senior Systems Engineers to lead critical engineering lifecycles within Defence. We are particularly interested in speaking with senior practitioners who can operate effectively across engineering, project management, capability management and Defence stakeholder environments.

Based in Canberra, upcoming opportunities will offer the chance to drive end-to-end engineering outcomes—from capability definition, requirements development, acquisition, integration, verification, acceptance, and transition to service and sustainment.

The Opportunity

Support complex Defence capability programs across the One Defence Capability System.

Depending on the position and program, responsibilities may include:

- Leading systems engineering activities across the Defence capability lifecycle.
- Developing and managing operational, capability, system and subsystem requirements.
- Supporting requirements analysis, functional analysis and system architecture development.
- Establishing systems engineering management plans, technical baselines and engineering governance arrangements.
- Managing requirements traceability, interfaces, configuration and technical risk.
- Planning and supporting verification, validation, test, evaluation and acceptance activities.
- Supporting technical reviews, design reviews and assurance activities.
- Providing engineering advice to Defence project offices, capability managers and senior decision-makers.
- Coordinating engineering activities across Defence, CASG,



industry, operators and specialist technical authorities.
- Contributing to tender development, tender evaluation, contract deliverables and engineering work packages.
- Mentoring engineers and supporting the development of high-performing multidisciplinary teams.

About You You will be an experienced systems engineering professional with a strong understanding of Defence capability development and delivery.

You are likely to possess:

- Significant systems engineering experience within Defence, government or complex regulated industries.
- Demonstrated experience working across multiple phases of the capability or system lifecycle.
- A sound understanding of Defence capability, acquisition and sustainment processes.
- Experience developing and managing requirements, architectures, interfaces, technical baselines and verification evidence.
- The ability to translate operational and capability needs into clear, traceable and achievable system requirements.
- Experience working with senior Defence, industry and technical stakeholders.
- Solid written communication skills and the ability to produce clear, defensible engineering documentation.
- The judgement and confidence to provide independent technical advice in complex delivery environments.
- A relevant engineering degree or equivalent recognised qualification.





Experience with Defence engineering governance, technical regulatory frameworks, systems assurance, safety engineering, configuration management, test and evaluation, or integrated logistics support would be advantageous. Chartered Professional Engineer status, registration on the National Engineering Register, or equivalent professional recognition is highly desirable.

Security Clearance To work with our clients in the defence sector, applicants must hold a current Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Security Clearance for the relevant position. NV1, NV2 and TSPV cleared candidates are highly encouraged to express interest.

Location The opportunities are expected to be primarily Canberra-based, with working arrangements dependent on the relevant Defence program, security requirements and client setting.
