KazGard designs and delivers digital products across AI-enabled SaaS, education, robotics and social-impact initiatives. Because our portfolio spans AI, enterprise software, education, robotics and community initiatives, we are seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer to lead end-to-end design across complex software and selected hardware/software projects.

This is primarily a UX/UI and product design role. The successful candidate will also need sufficient technical fluency to collaborate with software, data, AI and hardware engineers, build credible prototypes, and use research and data to support product decisions.

The role involves working directly with executive leaders, engineers, educators, corporate clients, startups and Aboriginal-led or community organisations in Australia, as well as selected European partners and markets.

You will not be expected to replace an engineer or data scientist. You will, however, need enough technical depth to challenge assumptions, test feasibility and make informed product decisions.

What you will do

Lead end-to-end UX/UI design. Work across discovery, research, requirements, information architecture, user flows, prototyping, usability testing, visual design, design systems and implementation review.

Work directly with decision-makers. Translate business priorities into clear product hypotheses, requirements and evidence-based decisions, collaborating closely with CEOs, senior stakeholders and engineering teams.

Shape AI-enabled products. Define appropriate machine-learning use cases, work with model outputs and APIs, and design clear human-review, confidence, explanation, error and fallback states. Apply a working understanding of classification, forecasting, recommendation, NLP and large language models.

Define product-side API requirements. Map data flows, authentication, permissions, endpoint behaviour, data contracts, loading and error states, documentation and integration-testing needs.

Build functional prototypes. Use Figma and AI-assisted tools such as Cursor and Codex, adding code where it helps test interaction logic, technical feasibility or a new service concept.

Contribute to applied R&D.; Prototype hardware/software experiences involving robotics, sensors, connected devices, microcontrollers or physical interfaces, in partnership with technical specialists.

Lead research and evaluation. Plan interviews, co-design, heuristic evaluations, cognitive walkthroughs, accessibility reviews and usability tests, and turn findings into clear priorities.

Use data to guide decisions. Analyse qualitative and quantitative evidence using R/RStudio, tidyverse, ggplot2, spreadsheets and product analytics, then communicate findings through clear visualisations and practical recommendations.

Design for accessibility and wider impact. Apply WCAG 2.2 and relevant W3C guidance, including cognitive-accessibility and assistive-technology considerations. Use systemic design and ecodesign to consider resource use, maintenance, longevity and unintended effects.

Adapt to different operating contexts.



Work effectively across corporate or regulated environments and Aboriginal-led or community organisations, respecting cultural authority, community governance, consent, local capacity and different decision-making processes.

Support growth and measure outcomes. Contribute to community engagement, partnerships and international delivery, with a focus on Australia and Europe, and define meaningful product, social, educational and environmental measures.

What we are looking for

Relevant experience. At least four years in UX/UI, product or interaction design, with a strong portfolio of complex, shipped or 0-to-1 work and a clear account of your personal contribution.

Advanced design training. Postgraduate study in interaction design, UX, HCI, digital design, systemic design, ecodesign or a related field, or equivalent senior professional experience.

Strong end-to-end design craft. Capability across research, system and service mapping, information architecture, prototyping, UI, design systems, testing and delivery support.

Practical AI and ML product experience. Enough depth to discuss model behaviour, input data, evaluation, uncertainty, bias, privacy and human oversight with technical teams.

Advanced prototyping and technical fluency. Strong Figma and Miro skills; experience with Cursor, Codex or comparable tools; and product-level knowledge of REST or GraphQL APIs, JSON, authentication, permissions, webhooks and integration testing.

Data and evaluation capability. Experience using R/RStudio and ggplot2, or comparable reproducible tools, together with heuristic evaluation, usability testing and mixed-method research.

Accessibility practice. Demonstrated application of WCAG in live products and experience working with recognised accessibility standards, guidance or professional groups. Direct W3C participation, particularly in cognitive accessibility or assistive technology, is highly regarded.

Applied R&D; exposure. Experience with hardware prototyping, robotics, IoT, connected products or other emerging-technology environments.

Executive and community judgement. A track record of working directly with CEOs and engineers while building trusted, respectful relationships with Aboriginal-led or community-based organisations.

Conceptual design capability. The ability to combine critical, analytical, systems and creative thinking, explore abstract or emerging ideas through lateral thinking, and translate them into clear, testable interaction and service concepts.

Startup experience. Experience in an early-stage or startup workplace, or taking a product, programme or community initiative from concept through validation, partnership development, launch or measurable growth.



Founder or co-founder experience is highly regarded.

- International and cross-cultural experience. Professional fluency in English is required. Professional fluency in English is essential. Experience working across European markets, multilingual environments or international stakeholder groups is highly regarded. Additional European language skills are considered an advantage.

Evidence of value. The ability to report meaningful outcomes across product, social, educational, cultural or environmental work, using appropriate metrics and clearly distinguishing personal contribution from team results.

4. Startup, community and international delivery: Tell us about a product, startup, programme or community initiative you initiated or helped build. How did you validate it, develop participation or partnerships, adapt across cultures or markets, and measure growth or impact?

Evidence standard: For each example, include the relevant baseline, result, timeframe or sample, source of the data and your own contribution. Team-level metrics are welcome when clearly identified.
