What You Will Do
As senior recreation officer, you will lead recreation services at Loddon Prison and Middleton.
You will plan safe, practical programs that support prisoners with different needs.
You Will
- assess the recreation needs of general and special needs prisoners
- lead the planning, delivery and review of active and passive recreation programs within budget
- supervise recreation officers, manage team rosters and provide clear guidance to prisoner work groups
- maintain safe equipment, complete risk assessments and make sure activities follow safety and security requirements
- coach prisoners, keep accurate records and support the offender services team to deliver quality programs.
Note:
This position works an 80-hour fortnight,
which includes weekends and public holidays.
About You
You must have completed the Prison Officer Pre Service training. You must also hold a Certificate IV in Fitness or an equivalent qualification, or be willing to complete it.
You Should Also Have
- advanced computer skills
- strong problem-solving skills and the ability to organise work and keep accurate records
- respectful communication skills and the ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds
- flexible leadership skills, a commitment to learning and the ability to support and develop others.
