SMP / Mechanical Construction Supervisor

About Our Client:
Our client is an established engineering and construction contractor currently delivering works on a major gold processing plant project in Western Australia’s Goldfields.
Due to project requirements, they are seeking an experienced SMP or Mechanical Construction Supervisor to join the site team and oversee mechanical construction activities.
Role Overview:
This is a FIFO position working either a 2:1 or 3:1 roster , with mobilisation scheduled for 3 August 2026 .
The initial assignment is expected to continue through to November. However, strong performers may be retained for further project work.
You will be responsible for leading site crews, coordinating daily construction activities and ensuring mechanical and SMP works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project drawings, specifications and schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily SMP and mechanical construction activities.
- Lead mechanical crews and coordinate subcontractors where required.
- Plan and allocate labour, equipment and materials across scheduled works.
- Oversee the installation of mechanical equipment, pipework and associated structural components.
- Ensure works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, ITPs and project requirements.
- Monitor productivity, quality and construction progress against the project schedule.
- Conduct pre-start meetings,
toolbox talks and daily work planning.
- Work closely with project management, HSE, QA/QC and other construction disciplines.
- Identify and resolve construction issues before they impact safety, quality or delivery.
- Maintain accurate daily reports and communicate progress to project management.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an SMP, Mechanical or Construction Supervisor.
- Strong experience working on mining, mineral processing or fixed-plant construction projects.
- Previous gold processing plant construction experience will be highly regarded.
- Sound knowledge of mechanical equipment installation, pipework and structural-mechanical construction.
- Mechanical trade qualification is highly desirable.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and work packages.
- Strong leadership, planning and workforce coordination skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and project delivery.
- Current Australian driver’s licence.
- Current Construction White Card.
- Explicit and current National Police Clearance.
- Section 26 or recognised statutory supervisor training will be highly regarded.
- Ability to complete a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening.
- Contactable references from recent construction projects.
- Available to mobilise on 3 August 2026 and commit through to November.
