Position

Naval Security Officer & Naval Administration Specialist

Location

Sydney, Australia

Overview

The Naval Security & Administration Specialist is responsible for maintaining security accreditation for Lloyds Australasia naval facilities and external sites and programs such as ITAR, DISP, and AUSDEFCON. The role provides security oversight, supports naval operations, protects personnel and infrastructure, and ensures compliance with Defence security standards and company procedures. Additionally, the position offers administrative support for Defence contract matters across all Lloyds defence activities, including invoicing and contractual reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

Maritime Security Operations

- Achieve and maintain DISP accreditation.
- Security processing and control of all Lloyds employees.
- Verify identification, credentials, and authorization of personnel and visitors.
- Ensure AUSDEFCON accreditation.
- Identify and report security threats, vulnerabilities, and suspicious activity.
- Support implementation of vessel and port security plans.

Naval & Marine Support Operations

- Provide operational support to naval, coast guard, and maritime security activities where required.
- Assist with vessel movements, embarkation/disembarkation procedures, and marine logistics.
- Support coordination between ship crews, port authorities, contractors, and security teams.
- Assist with emergency response operations, including evacuation, search and rescue support, and incident containment.
- Maintain operational readiness of security equipment and marine support resources.

Safety & Emergency Response

- Respond to security incidents, emergencies, and safety-related events.
- Support fire prevention,



emergency drills, and crisis management exercises.
- Assist with accident reporting and incident investigations.
- Follow maritime safety procedures and environmental protection requirements.
- Promote a solid safety culture across marine operations.

Compliance & Documentation

- Maintain accurate security logs, patrol records, and incident reports, ensuring compliance with:
- International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code requirements.
- Company security procedures.
- Maritime safety regulations.
- Port and vessel access control policies.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and security assessments.

Team Coordination

- Work closely with the Australian Defence Force, Defence Industry, Naval support personnel (APS), and naval operations staff.
- Provide clear communication during routine and high-pressure situations.
- Support training and mentoring of junior security personnel.

Qualifications

What you bring

- Negative Vetting 1 or higher.
- Previous experience in Australian Defence security, naval operations, military service, port security, or offshore environments.
- Knowledge of marine security procedures and vessel operations.
- Understanding of access control, risk assessment, and incident response.
- Ability to work extended hours, shifts, and offshore assignments.




- Clear communication skills and the ability to prepare accurate reports.
- Ability to operate effectively in challenging marine environments.

Nice to have

- Unit Security Officer certification.
- Maritime security training.
- Contractual and legal understanding of AUSDEFCON.
- Military/naval background.
- Experience working in Project Management, ship construction and sustainment within the Defence Domain.
