Mental Health Clinician, Acute Care Team – Casual Pool

Location: Caringbah, Sydney. Employment type: Casual. Hours: As required. Salary: $40.05 - $61.76 per hour plus superannuation.

Role Overview

Provide evidence‑based, person‑centred acute mental health services to individuals in crisis. Work across a 7‑day rotating roster, with opportunities for casual shifts.

Responsibilities

- Plan, coordinate, and deliver acute mental health services in line with policies and standards.
- Perform triage, comprehensive and risk assessments, clinical formulation, safety planning, brief psycho‑education and collaborative discharge planning.
- Foster partnerships with consumers, families and internal/external stakeholders to ensure holistic care.
- Respond to demands of the role while managing time effectively.
- Maintain professional judgement and use evidence‑based practice.
- Implement digital technologies in clinical care.
- Participate in quality improvement processes and teaching.
- Travel and drive where required.

Qualifications

- Relevant qualification: Occupational Therapist, Social Worker (Schedule C qualifications, registered with AHPRA or equivalent); Registered Nurse (RN registration); Psychologist (four‑year degree with registration on the Psychology Board of Australia).




- Current full registration or eligibility for membership with respective professional bodies.
- Experience providing comprehensive mental health assessments and interventions, including risk assessment, safety planning and discharge planning.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience exercising independent professional judgement using evidence‑based practice.
- Experience leading or participating in quality improvement and teaching activities.
- Ability to manage time effectively under pressure.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
