A well established digital product business in Sydney is after a Lead Engineer to bridge Product & Engineering with a team of six developers under you. This is a hands on leadership role, split roughly 50/50 between tools, architectural design and team direction with a BE lean (around 70/30 FS split).

The stack:

- React and Next on the front end
- Node and TypeScript
- AWS, mostly Lambda and ECS
- Docker
- WordPress core alongside Laravel (OOP fundamentals are fine)

They're also leaning into Claude for parts of the dev workflow, so comfort with AI assisted coding is a plus.

This isn't a role where you just take tickets and build. You'll be shaping what gets built. You'll sit with product, scope solutions from vague ideas, and help set the direction of the roadmap itself.



If you've worked agency side and are used to jumping between projects and owning the technical side of client or product conversations, this will feel familiar.

Even though the role skews backend, they want someone who still understands & values positive FE engineering and collaborate with the strength that lies elsewhere in the team.

Culture fit matters more than anything else for this one. They want someone who can hold a proper conversation, feels comfortable in a room full of other engineers, and can speak to how they drive team culture, not just what they can build.
