YMCA Caloundra is recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic Gymnastics Competitive Leader for a permanent part‑time position to join our team in Caloundra.
About the role
As a Gymnastics Competitive Leader with the Y, you will be responsible for developing and coordinating the Centre’s Competition Gymnastics program and classes as well as supervising and supporting a small team of Competition Gym coaches. The position will also coach gymnastics classes and complete administrative tasks as required.
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain innovative and quality gymnastics programs that meet the requirements of Gymnastics Queensland Club 10 and align with the YMCA mission statement.
- Undertake the assessment of new gymnasts and assist with advising gymnasts in relation to their progression including recommendations regarding change of classes and levels.
- Assist the Gymnastics Co‑ordinator with staff coordination tasks as required including but not limited to staff roster and checking coaches’ availability, fill or find fills for classes.
- Teach competitive gymnastics using suitable progressions and lesson plans in accordance with the YMCA’s Mission statement and the requirements of Gymnastics Australia.
- Maintain the work environment to minimise risk to both customers and staff.
- Report identifiable risk so that immediate action can be taken.
Qualifications
- Accreditation with Gymnastics Australia minimum intermediate (working towards advanced) coaching qualifications or industry equivalent with relevant experience or an equivalent level of qualifications, training and/or experience.
- Knowledge and practical experience in all aspects of gymnastics,
including demonstrated programming experience.
- Able to commit to having a Competition Team/hours and attending Competitions on the weekends during Comp Season.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent planning, prioritisation and organisational skills.
- Sound knowledge of computer systems including the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
- Ability to build rapport with customers and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Ability to write all the lesson plans for the other Comp Coaches.
- Demonstrated results orientation, sound judgement and problem‑solving skills.
- Sound knowledge of local and international gymnastics development trends.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificates.
- Positive Notice Blue Card, or willingness to obtain.
- Be working towards your Beginners Gymnastics Accreditation or be willing to undertake your accreditation through the Y.
