About the Role

This temporary position is a full‑time 1.0 FTE equivalent across three base schools – Gulgong High School, Cudgegong Valley Public School and Mudgee High School – until 27 January 2027. School psychologists are an essential part of the Department’s school counselling service, working in primary and high schools. They provide counselling and psychological assessment of students to complement and strengthen teacher work, enhance student learning and wellbeing, and support families in managing children’s learning and mental health needs.

This role offers professional development opportunities and the chance to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people.

Cooperative work with school communities, colleagues and outside agencies, supported by a multidisciplinary team, is a key element of the position. The psychologist will have opportunities for continuing professional development, and the Department of Education will aid in completing or maintaining registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Additional benefits include leave types, recreation leave, flex leave,

leave loading, travel allowances and health and wellbeing benefits, such as the Fitness Passport program. Indemnity insurance is covered by the department.
