Job Description – School Psychologist – Bombala High School (0000BC6I)
Location : Bombala High School, Illawarra & South Coast – Wollongong & The South Coast
Number of Positions : 1
Remuneration Package : Package valued up to $182,461 plus incentives (where applicable). Base salary ranges from $101,122 to $160,983, with leave loading and employer’s contribution to superannuation. Base salary above the minimum is available based on professional experience.

About the Role
Full‑time (1.0 FTE) School Psychologist based at Bombala High School. This role involves providing counselling and psychological assessment to students, collaborating with teachers, parents, and external agencies, and contributing to the mental health and well‑being of the school community.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide counselling and psychological services to students individually and in groups, including short‑term therapeutic interventions within the limits of training, experience, and supervision.
- Engage with and implement the procedures of the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service.
- Work in consultation with the principal, school executive, staff, and student support services to improve student learning and well‑being outcomes and implement departmental priorities.
- Contribute to the social, emotional, and academic development of students and support schools and students with complex behavioural needs.
- Administer cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioural assessments of students, report on results,
and collaborate to improve learning and well‑being outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with learning and support teams, parents, carers, and other agencies to develop appropriate school‑based support for students.
- Respond as part of a team to assist schools experiencing reliable incidents.
- Refer students and/or their families and carers to other agencies to support the development of student health and well‑being outcomes.
Essential Requirements
- Knowledge and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy, Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG Inc., and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy.
- General or Provisional Psychology Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Valid and current Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance – NSW.
- Current and valid driver’s licence with the ability and willingness to travel between work sites.
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
Benefits & Incentives
Rural and remote incentives of $20,000 to $30,000 per annum are available for eligible positions, depending on the remoteness of the school.
