We're slowly changing that, one day at a time. Kerin Health is looking for an experienced Paediatric Speech Pathologist to join our team in Parkes, Central West NSW, and help turn that around for local kids and families, one face-to-face session at a time.
A few months ago, one of our little clients had waited months just to get through the door. After a single term of sessions, her mum pulled one of our reception team aside on the way out, with tears in her eyes. "She spoke her first sentence at dinner last night," she said. "She told us she played soccer." Then, quietly: "That means the world to our family. Thank you so much."
That's the job. Not the paperwork, not the caseload numbers - that moment, for a kid who'd been waiting far too long to be heard.
You'll be in the room, in the community, seeing families week to week and watching the difference land in real time; because in a town like ours, one great therapist genuinely moves the needle.
We're looking for someone who wants to properly settle into Parkes or the surrounding areas in the beautiful Central West of NSW - someone driven by the idea of being the person who finally gets a local kid off a years-long waitlist and into a session that actually helps.
What you'll be doing
- Assessing children referred to the service and mapping out what support they need
- Building individualised, evidence-based treatment plans tied to real client goals
- Carrying a paediatric caseload and delivering hands-on therapy sessions
- Teaming up with Physios, OTs and Allied Health Assistants on shared clients
- Coaching parents, caregivers and supporting Allied Health assistants so progress keeps going between sessions
- Keeping documentation current and staying on top of best practice
What you'll bring
- A Bachelor's or Master's in Speech Pathology,
with current AU registration
- Solid assessment, treatment planning and communication skills
- The ability to work independently while also pulling your weight in a team
- A real pull toward rural Australia - you want to live in Parkes or the surrounding areas in the beautiful Central West of NSW and you're motivated by kids who've been waiting far too long for someone like you
