About the Hospital
Set near a picturesque Tasmanian coastline, the North West Regional Hospital, Burnie is a 160‑bed facility and the principal referral centre for the North West Tasmanian community. It provides general medicine, surgical (including orthopaedic), intensive care, cancer services, paediatric services, outpatient clinics and specialist services. The hospital has close ties with the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School and with TAFE Tasmania, providing opportunities for comprehensive learning.
The Theatre Team
The NWRH Theatre is a vibrant, supportive team consisting of four operating theatres providing orthopaedics, gynaecology, general surgery, ENT, endoscopy and dental services. It is committed to a positive workplace culture, excellent clinical care and a supportive environment.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Perioperative Enrolled Nurse in Pre/Post Op Day Surgery, Scrub Scout or an acute setting. The role reports to the Nurse Unit Manager and involves delivering high quality care, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, fostering a learning culture and effective communication.
Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care in day surgery and recovery areas.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists and ancillary staff to deliver secure patient care.
- Participate in leadership and education activities to support learning and development.
- Maintain high standards of infection control and clinical documentation.
Details of Appointment
- Permanent, part‑time,
fully rotational shift work up to 64 hours per fortnight.
- Hours to be negotiated with successful applicant.
- Option to provide flexible working arrangements and on‑call service overnight.
Salary & Benefits
Salary: $73,109 to $80,524 per annum (pro‑rata). Superannuation contribution of 12% is on top of this amount.
- Salary range follows the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
- Post‑graduate allowance up to 7.5% based on qualification type.

Eligibility
- Registered Enrolled Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Qualifications and experience as per Statement of Duties.
