Overview

Associate Professor / Professor – Nursing and Midwifery (Fixed Term, 3 years). Level D or Level E commission, salary commensurate with level. Position located in Bedford Park / Kaurna Country with opportunities to work across multiple Flinders campuses and Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) sites.

Responsibilities

- Collaborate as an equal member of SALHN and College of Health and Enablement (CHE) leadership teams and committees to support strategic priorities and deliver synergistic outcomes.
- Work with the Nursing and Midwifery Community of Practice and relevant SALHN committees to advance services, values and strategic direction.
- Contribute to education and workforce development activities at SALHN and Flinders University, including recruitment, mentoring and support of early and mid‑career nurses, midwives and postgraduate students.
- Guide and enact clinical governance, foster sustainable partnerships, policy development and scholarly activities, including introduction of new or emerging nursing and midwifery competencies (e.g., nurse prescribing).
- Lead, supervise and participate in high‑performing multi‑disciplinary teams with education, workforce and research focus, and foster respectful, trusting and collaborative working partnerships.
- Support the university’s strategic plan to change lives through academic–health service partnerships and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications – Level D

- Completion of a PhD or an equivalent qualification and/or experience.
- Eligibility for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Current membership with a relevant skilled association.




- Evidence of educational leadership and workplace innovation in workforce development.
- Established national reputation in scholarship or research aligned with SALHN priorities or the College’s research strengths, demonstrated by sustained high‑quality publications and attraction of competitive internal and external grants.
- Demonstrated strategic decision‑making within nursing, midwifery and broader health policy frameworks.

Qualifications – Level E

- Completion of a PhD or an equivalent qualification and/or experience.
- Eligibility for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Current membership with a relevant professional association.
- Significant experience in educational and workforce methodology, including flexible delivery via e‑learning platforms and other communications technologies.
- Established international reputation in scholarship/research aligned with the College’s research strengths, evidenced by sustained high‑quality publications and competitive external grant success.
- Extensive network across local, national and international levels, with a track record of executive leadership in clinical and corporate governance.
- Demonstrated ability to foster accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement within a complex healthcare environment.
