Access Telehealth

Maitland

Access Aged Care is redefining how General Practitioners practise within Residential Aged Care Homes, creating a more sustainable, clinically supported and rewarding way to practise medicine in aged care. Backed by the national network of Access Telehealth, our multidisciplinary model enables GPs to focus on timely, proactive resident care while working alongside dedicated nurses, telehealth specialists and streamlined operational systems.

Designed for clinicians who want to continue practising in aged care long‑term, without the unsustainable pressures traditionally associated with the sector, our model supports proactive intervention, collaborative care and better health outcomes for older Australians. We have delivered measurable reductions in emergency department presentations, unplanned hospitalisations and polypharmacy within partnered Residential Aged Care Homes nationally.

Through our national network of general practitioners, nurses and specialists, we support Residential Aged Care Homes and regional communities nationwide while improving access to high‑quality healthcare for older Australians.

About the Role

Access Aged Care is seeking a dedicated General Practitioner to provide on‑site care within Residential Aged Care Homes in Rutherford and surrounds. This prospect offers weekday hours only, with no after‑hours, weekends or on‑call requirements. With dedicated after‑hours support in place, you can switch off between sessions and protect your personal time.

Responsibilities

- Deliver proactive, relationship‑based care to a consistent cohort of residents.
- Coordinate care plans,

investigations and communication with homes in partnership with an Access Aged Care Nurse.
- Utilise shared clinical records and streamlined systems to minimise paperwork and administrative burden.
- Consult with telehealth geriatricians, physicians and specialists for complex clinical decision‑making and preventative resident care.

Benefits

- Guaranteed region‑leading daily rates tailored to experience and availability.
- Dedicated Nursing Support to ensure efficient sessions and complete follow‑up actions.
- After‑hours support through locum and dedicated reserves, so you are not required to be in service.
- Less paperwork, better medicine: shared clinical records, streamlined systems and practice support reduce administrative load.
- Specialist support for complex residents via telehealth geriatricians and specialists.
- Flexibility to begin with 1–2 days per week, 9 AM–5 PM, with potential to increase.
- Quality‑focused caseload centred on meaningful long‑term resident relationships.
- Opportunity to build a sustainable long‑term aged care practice that reduces burnout and improves work‑life balance.

Requirements

- Current AHPRA specialist registration as a General Practitioner.
- RACGP or ACRRM fellowship required (or nearing completion).
- Availability to work 1–2 days per week, with the option to increase.
- Comfortable with technology, including system‑based reporting and common clinical software.
- Personal laptop to perform the duties of this role.

If you are an experienced GP, recently fellowed, or approaching fellowship, please contact to discuss the role.
