We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent full time Strategic Communications Lead to join the Corporate Communications branch within the Council.
The role is a senior communications specialist responsible for providing high-level strategic communication leadership, advice and expertise to support Logan City Council's corporate priorities, reputation and organisational objectives.
Reporting to the Manager External Communications, the role leads the development and delivery of integrated communication strategies for complex, high-profile and strategically significant initiatives. The position serves as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, enhancing Council's reputation, helping manage communication risks, shaping key messaging and supporting executive decision-making.
Position responsibilities include:
- Lead communication strategies for major Council projects and organisational changes.
- Provide strategic communications advice to executives and the Office of the Mayor.
- Protect and enhance Council's reputation by managing communication risks.
- Develop and deliver communication plans, campaigns and key messaging.
- Lead and manage high-profile strategic communications plans.
- Build strong relationships with senior leaders, government agencies and stakeholders.
- Influence and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve communication outcomes.
- Represent communications on key projects, internal committees and working groups.
- Improve communication frameworks, best practices and organisational capability.
- Mentor and support communications staff across the organisation.

- A strong track record leading complex, organisation-wide communication strategies and campaigns.
- Experience providing communications advice to senior leaders.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Experience handling complex, high-profile communication issues.
- Demonstrated capability in driving communication best practice and business improvement initiatives.
- Strong ability to provide authoritative advice that informs strategic and executive decisions.
- Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Current Class C Drivers Licence.
