About the role

Clarence Valley Council is seeking a motivated and experienced Strategic Planner to join our Development and Land Use Planning team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a geographically diverse region and play a key role in guiding the sustainable growth of the Clarence Valley.

As Strategic Planner you will be working within a collaborative team to implement Council's strategic vision and respond to regional planning priorities.



You will help deliver long-term planning outcomes that balance housing delivery, employment, environmental protection and economic development, while integrating risk-informed planning approaches to minimise exposure to flooding, bushfire, coastal hazards and other climate-related risks.

You will support the preparation, implementation and review of land use strategies, planning proposals, local environmental plans (LEPs), development control plans (DCPs), planning policy and initiatives that align with community aspirations while responding to growth, infrastructure needs, environmental stewardship, climate resilience and natural hazard risk.

You will provide planning advice, undertake research and policy development, manage strategic planning projects and contribute to regional planning initiatives that support the future prosperity, resilience and liveability of the Clarence Valley.

This position is located at Council's Grafton office however, this may change should business needs identify other work locations to be more appropriate to deliver our services in the future.
