Overview

The Research Partnerships Section is responsible for managing relationships with key partners and stakeholders. Internal stakeholders include policy teams, Data and Insights Branch, the Strategic Communication team and Legal Services. Key external stakeholders include the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW), the Department of Defence, the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the Australian Institute of Family Studies, the Departments of Defence and Veterans’ Affairs Human Research Ethics Committee (DDVA HREC) and the Serum Management Committees. Research Partnerships also represents DVA on the Five‑Eyes Veteran Research Committee and coordinates Australian representation on supporting working groups. Network membership includes veterans agencies from the United Kingdom, Canada, USA, Current Zealand and Australia.

The Ethics team within Research Partnerships manages DVA policies and procedures relating to the ethical review of research and evaluation activities, including liaison with the Department of Defence on matters related to the DDVA HREC and providing preliminary guidance on ethics applications.





REPA Branch is seeking an APS 6 Senior Ethics Officer to support the delivery and continuous improvement of DVA’s research ethics function, with a focus on promoting ethically responsible research involving veterans, ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines, legislation, policies and procedures, and enabling high‑quality, ethically robust research and evaluation.
