Permanent Role - An exciting chance for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Older Persons Mental Health team based in North West, Tasmania.

The Team

Join our Community, Mental Health & Wellbeing team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Older Persons Mental Health Services (OPMHS), based in North West Tasmania. You’ll work closely with individuals, their families, and support networks to help older people live their best lives.

This permanent, full-time position offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in people’s recovery journeys while working alongside a team-oriented multidisciplinary team committed to holistic healthcare approaches.

The Role

- Our services work closely with both the public and private sectors to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
- The Clinical Nurse Specialist is a clinical expert in the area of practice and acts as a clinical resource for nursing, medical and allied health staff in the management of consumers with complex mental health needs, working with other members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care within the designated area of practice.

What you’ll do

- Initiate, develop, implement and evaluate clinical policy, care guidelines, quality improvement and research activities in accordance with contemporary best practice to improve consumer outcomes.
- Provide case management to a designated number of consumers with complex needs, including those living with dementia.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, community organizations, and families.





You will need

- Experience in mental health, clinical nursing experience directly applicable to Mental Health settings.
- Sound understanding or ability to develop understanding of relevant statutory, departmental procedures, and policies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care principles.

Salary and benefits

Salary range: $109,767 to $115,813 per annum (Pro rata). Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Post Graduate Allowance up to 10% based on qualification type.

Salary packaging offers living expenses up to 9010 and meal entertainment up to 2650 each FBT year.

Applicants must meet essential criteria

- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
- Current driver’s licence.

Desirable criteria

- Extensive, relevant psychiatric nursing experience and/or credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse by the Australian and Recent Zealand College of Mental Health Nurses Inc. or equivalent.
- Holds, or is working towards, relevant tertiary qualifications.
