Family Services Practitioner
Full Time - Permanent

- $105,570 - $ per annum (FTE). This role is paid hourly in line with the SCHADS Award Level 5 and based on classification and experience.

About the Role

As a Family Services Practitioner in our Foster and Kinship Care team, you'll play a vital role in strengthening placements, supporting carers, and improving outcomes for children and young people across Northern Tasmania.

As a Family Services Practitioner within our Foster and Kinship Care program, you will:
- Undertake comprehensive assessments of foster and kinship carers
- Build strong relationships with carers, children, young people, and key stakeholders
- Develop and implement co-designed placement support plans
- Provide ongoing support, guidance, and advocacy for carers
- Apply trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to practice
- Promote the safety, wellbeing, and best interests of children and young people
- Collaborate with Child Safety Services and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes
About You
You are a compassionate and resilient practitioner who is committed to improving outcomes for children, young people, and families.
You will bring:
- Strong assessment, case management, and engagement skills
- Knowledge of child development, trauma, attachment, and risk assessment
- Experience applying evidence-informed and therapeutic approaches in practice
- Understanding of child safety, out-of-home care, and family support systems
- Experience working with families experiencing complex needs
- Confidence engaging with diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culturally diverse families
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills
- The ability to exercise sound professional judgement and work effectively under limited supervision
- A genuine alignment with BaptistCare's Mission, Vision, and Values
Essential requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Social Welfare, Human Services, or a related field
- Alternatively, a Diploma in Community Services with a minimum of two years' relevant experience
- Current Driver's Licence
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout the region
- Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications
