Boom Logistics Limited is a leading ASX listed provider of crane, lifting and specialised transport solutions, supporting some of the country's largest mining, infrastructure and industrial projects. With a solid focus on safety, operational excellence, and long‑term growth, we are seeking experienced and motivated personnel to join our regional WA operations.
Due to recent operational growth, an exciting opportunity has developed for an experienced Operations Controller to join our North West team on a rotational 14 days on / 7 days off roster based in Newman, Western Australia . This opportunity can be considered for either local or regional (FIFO) candidates.
About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating the day‑to‑day operation of our Newman depot, ensuring our people, fleet and customers are supported safely, efficiently and professionally. You’ll work closely with operators, supervisors, maintenance personnel and customers to ensure resources are planned effectively, compliance is maintained and our service delivery remains industry leading.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinating daily operational activities, including scheduling, dispatching and tracking of equipment and personnel.
- Taking customer bookings and responding to operational enquiries.
- Maximising fleet utilisation while liaising with internal and external teams, clients and suppliers.
- Liaising closely with our Maintenance Team to coordinate servicing, repairs and equipment availability.
- Monitoring operator competencies, training requirements and site compliance.
- Ensuring all work is accurately entered into operational systems and dispatched via Boom's digital platforms.
- Assisting with invoicing, purchase orders, job close‑out and operational administration.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational performance, customer service and safety.
- Participating in an after‑hours on‑call roster to support operational requirements.
About you
We’re looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic operational environment and enjoys making decisions that keep the business moving. What you’ll need to succeed:
- Previous experience in crane hire, heavy equipment, mining, transport or resource allocation.
- Strong planning and scheduling experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders.
- The ability to meet deadlines, prioritise operational tasks and plan effectively.
- High attention to detail and data input.
- Proficiency in using computer software and systems, with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Experience using scheduling, ERP or allocation systems (experience with VisD or similar is advantageous).
- A proactive mindset of identifying problems and implementing practical solutions.
- A strong commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
