Disability Support Workers (Contractor) – Community Participation

Looking for a role where no two days are the same?

Brisbane Care Services is seeking reliable, engaging and proactive Disability Support Workers to support two teenage participants in the community. These roles are ideal for people who enjoy building genuine relationships, encouraging independence and thinking creatively to make each day meaningful. Both participants enjoy community-based activities, benefit from positive role models and respond particularly well to calm, confident male or mature/parental-style support workers. Applicants of all genders are encouraged to apply, however those able to provide this style of support may be particularly well suited.

Behaviour support experience or confidence working with autism and behaviours of concern will be highly regarded.

Position 1 – Taringa

Every Wednesday | 8:15am – 2:15pm

Additional relief shifts available

Support a high school-aged young person with autism who benefits from encouragement to get out into the community and experience new activities.

We're looking for someone who can gently motivate, build trust and help expand his world beyond the home environment. A patient, consistent approach and the ability to confidently encourage participation is essential.

Activities may include

- Community outings and recreational activities
- Exploring automotive and mechanical interests
- Building confidence and independence
- Encouraging social engagement and life skills
- Supporting everyday household tasks and routines

This role suits someone who enjoys mentoring young people and celebrating the small wins that build confidence over time.

Position 2 – Wellington Point

1–3 weekday shifts per week Wednesday to Friday Approximately 8:00am – 12:00pm

Support a creative teenager who genuinely enjoys being out in the community and is passionate about digital art,



animation, technology and creative projects.

This role focuses on nurturing existing strengths while introducing new opportunities through community participation.

Activities may include

- Makerspaces, libraries and creative workshops
- Digital art, animation and technology-based interests
- Op shopping and community outings
- Exploring new interests aligned with the participant's passions

Experience or a personal interest in digital media, animation, gaming, technology or creative arts would be highly regarded.

About You

You'll ideally have:
- Experience and passion supporting people living with disability and building their capacity

- Behaviour support experience (preferred)
- A calm, confident and patient approach
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to work independently and think creatively
- A reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance

Essential Requirements

- Current ABN & Public Liability & Qualified Indemnity Insurance
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
- Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- National Police Check
- Current First Aid & CPR
- Driver Licence and reliable insured vehicle
