Role Overview
As the Chef, you will prepare and cook a variety of meals, ensuring compliance with food safety standards and customer expectations. You will supervise staff, manage stock, and ensure the safe use of kitchen equipment. You will maintain hygiene standards, provide on-the-job training, and support budgeting efforts while adhering to health and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations, including the preparation and service of food to vulnerable persons, in line with Bolton Clarke's quality standards and legislative requirements.
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals, including main dishes, baked goods and special dietary requirements; portion, present and serve food in a professional manner that meets customer expectations.
- Maintain and appropriately use kitchen equipment, ensuring all appliances and tools are handled safely and effectively, and conduct regular checks for maintenance or safety concerns.
- Assist in the supervision, training and day-to-day guidance of lower-level employees, provide on-the-job training to support team members’ development and maintain high operational standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimal experience in commercial catering or other food services for the aged in either a nursing home or hospital practice setting is preferred.
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery is prescribed.
- Strong knowledge of Food Safety & Compliance and Food Handling Regulations.
- Proficient in workforce planning, equipment maintenance, activity planning and inventory management skills.
- Excellent communication, customer experience and cross‑functional team working skills.
