About our Apprenticeship Program

Join us as an Apprentice in January 2027!

Our Apprentice Cable Jointers are involved with terminating and jointing electrical cables onto equipment, installing and maintaining cables in underground conduits and trenches, and rectifying faults on the distribution system.

Apprentices must be willing to work outdoors, at heights and in all weather conditions.

Our four-year program sees our Apprentices:

- Be secure. Solid skills, real experience and a future career that’s going places.
- Be trained. Earn a nationally recognised TAFE certification.
- Be supported. Great pay, valuable benefits and a 1:1 mentor to support your journey.
- Be valued. Feel supported from day one and grow as part of a wider team.
- Be hands-on. Build and learn practical skills from the best in the business.

If you want to be part of something essential, be essential with us as you work while earning an industry recognised trade qualification: Certificate III – ESI Distribution Underground .

Program eligibility

At least one of the following pre-requisites:

- Units 1 & 2 General Maths (Year 11 equivalent); or
- VCAL or VCE Vocational Major; or
- Currently completing (or completed) a pre-apprenticeship TAFE training course in Electrotechnology (Cert II).





*If you are currently completing a pre-requisite subject, you are eligible to apply, as long as it will be successfully completed by the end of the 2026 academic year.

If you are successful in passing the screening stage, future steps in the selection process may include online assessments, an interview (both video and face to face), practical and heights assessments, and pre-employment checks.

Please note that you can submit only one application for our Apprentice intake. If you apply for multiple locations, we will only consider your first application.
