Location: Parramatta, NSW, AU, 2150
Position: Temporary (up to 2 years) – Full‑time (35 HPW)
Grade: Clerk Grade 9/10 – Base salary $133,348 – $146,945 plus superannuation contribution and annual leave loading.
Your role
Work as part of a team of product management specialists to drive all aspects of product design to deliver customer‑centric digital solutions for the citizens of NSW. The role supports end‑to‑end product design from discovery, framing and iterative development by collaborating with technical developers, product owners, business analysts and other subject matter experts.
What you’ll do
- Lead end‑to‑end human‑centred design activities, including user research, journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, testing and final design delivery.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders to create customer‑focused digital solutions that meet business and user needs.
- Manage product design through discovery, iterative development and continuous improvement using Human‑Centred Design (HCD) principles.
- Develop accessible, sustainable, and technically feasible solutions aligned with design systems, brand standards and WCAG requirements.
- Provide expert advice on user experience, accessibility, usability, content design and emerging design trends to product and development teams.
- Manage multiple priorities in a rapid‑paced environment while driving effective stakeholder engagement, communication and delivery outcomes.
What we’re looking for
- Human‑Centred Design (HCD) & UX expertise – user research, journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, usability testing and user‑centred design.
- Stakeholder engagement and collaboration – building solid relationships and working effectively with customers, product owners,
developers and cross‑functional teams.
- Accessibility and design standards – applying WCAG accessibility guidelines, usability best practices and design system standards to ensure compliant and inclusive experiences.
- Project and workload management – managing multiple priorities, competing deadlines and changing requirements while delivering high‑quality outcomes.
- Strong understanding of the regulatory environment for government digital communications, including security, accessibility, usability, compliance with legislative requirements, brand management and procurement.
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly iterate on prototypes and ability to code prototypes viewed favourably.
- Experience in UI, visual design and UX, and delivery of complex digital product and content solutions.
- Experience and examples of working in collaborative, cross‑functional teams including developers, product owners and business analysts.
- Tertiary qualifications in information technology or a related discipline and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
- Human‑Centred Design or Design Thinking.
- A comprehensive portfolio of digital product design work that demonstrates complexity and broad customer experience.
- Proficiency in Figma, Mural or some equivalent design tools.
