Abacus is seeking a Tax Accountant to join our Finance & Technology team. Reporting to the Tax Manager, this role offers an excellent opportunity to develop broad technical and commercial tax expertise while working across compliance, reporting and advisory matters within a leading property investment and funds management environment.

About the Role The Tax Accountant plays a key role in supporting the Group's tax compliance, reporting and advisory activities. As part of a small, collaborative tax team, you will work closely with Finance teams, senior stakeholders, external advisers and tax authorities, gaining exposure to a diverse range of tax matters and business transactions.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate and support the Group's tax compliance obligations, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
- Assist with trust distribution calculations, income tax returns and direct and indirect tax reporting requirements.
- Liaise with Finance teams and external advisers to support tax compliance and reporting activities.
- Review tax calculations, assist with tax returns and help resolve tax-related queries.
- Manage ATO correspondence, tax records and compliance documentation.
- Support indirect tax obligations, including BAS and FBT compliance.
- Assist with tax aspects of acquisitions, disposals, restructures and other business transactions.
- Conduct tax research and support ATO reviews, audits and regulatory correspondence.
- Contribute to tax risk management initiatives and the continuous improvement of tax processes and controls.
About You
You are a proactive tax professional who enjoys working collaboratively, takes ownership of your work and is keen to build your career in a commercial environment.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years' relevant tax experience in public practice (tax or business services) or an in-house tax role.
- Experience in corporate tax, business tax or trust taxation is preferred and exposure to property, real estate or funds management industries will be highly regarded.
- Experience reviewing tax calculations or returns prepared by external advisers is desirable.
- Familiarity with ATO compliance processes and tax administration is advantageous.
- Experience with Thomson Reuters OneSource is preferred.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Business, Finance, Taxation or a related field.
- CA, CPA or other professional qualification (completed or in progress) is desirable.
